While the director is currently out to another walk on the wild side, shooting his newest film around the Mosul area, you can appreciate his skills of a war reporter in the serenity of a festival cinema.

Combining a documentary with autobiography and ethical inquiry, Cameraperson is both a moving look at one filmmaker’s personal journey through life and a thoughtful examination of what it means to train a camera on the world. Weaving a tapestry of largely unused footage taken throughout the 25-year-long career of photographer, cinematographer and documentarist Kirsten Johnson, this sensitive reflection is a “must see” for anyone who ever thinks of the essence of reality’s media representation.
